My advent calendar…a carol.

Here’s a beautiful piece of music by the late John Taverner. For me it sums up the spirit of Christmas.

I’m going to be writing my Christmas cards this evening, listening to this. I’ll have a glass of sherry, a warm mince-pie and I’ll be curled up on my sofa in my lounge. Feel free to join me.

  • Have you written your cards yet?
  • Perhaps you don’t send cards?
  • Or maybe you don’t celebrate Christmas.

I will be including posts about things other than Christmas, because I know that not everyone is nuts about his time of year. Everyone is welcome here.  But, for now, please let me indulge myself, with the sherry and mince pies.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great Friday.

Until the next time.

  1. The pictures with the song were very pretty. I send cards that I make with graphic programs. Just email them. I don’t celebrate in a religious sense but celebrate the loveliness of giving and warmness of family and friends.
I like your festive background. 🙂

  2. I’m in the process of writing 10 Christmas cards a day. I can’t bear to do anymore at the moment, so I only have another six days to go 🙂
But, I still absolutely love this time of year, especially as my advent calendar is a chocolate one 🙂

    • Well, I’m rubbish. I got the cards out, poured the sherry, warmed the mince pie. Drank the sherry, poured more sherry, had another mince pie and put the cards away.
Writing Christmas cards does my head in. Writing the same thing over and over again. This year I may write something different. Something rude! LOL!
My lovely old teacher, who taught me when I was eight and who I still write to, will really tell me off and give me detention.
