Why I love January.

I love January because the first flowers of the virginal year begin to appear; like these snowdrops.

Lichen 2

How beautiful is this lichen? It’s a pretty as any flower.

There’s beautiful sunsets…even on busy, village roads!

And finally!

snowy riverSNOW!

Albeit a dusting of.

Beautiful snow that cracks and pops, as you walk through it. The days are gradually getting longer again and spring will be here soon enough. Oh, and it’s my birthday in February, so I can look forward to being another year younger.

What’s not to like about January? It’s a brand new year and a fresh start.

How about you?

  • Do your like January?
  • If not, what’s your favourite month and why?

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your Thursday.

Until the next time.

  1. Oh, this January was one of the coldesto have experienced, and I don’t do well I cold weathers haha :D. But last November, I think the weather was just about right, not too hot nor too cold ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. January in Chicago is usually not fun but this year our winter has not been bad. We haven’t had much snow and the temperature isn’t too cold. With a new baby in the family and passable weather AND no major happenings, my January is moving along okay. ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. I’m glad to hear that you’re having a good start to your new year. Let’s hope that the weather behaves for you . It’s a worry keeping a young baby warm in winter, isn’t it. ๐Ÿ˜

  4. I am not a big fan of January lol. I do like October because it’s fall and fall is my favorite season. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. I have no idea what is going on with my comments on here. I replied to this earlier on tonight and my comment hasn’t turned up here. Typical…anyhow…
I know what you mean. I am usually so far ahead that when I get to where I should be I’m long gone; if you get my meaning, This only applies to some things: the rest of the time I’m as fast as a snail!
There’s always tomorrow, which then becomes a yesterday!
      I’m going – I’m rambling rubbish. x

      1. I am always missing someone’s comments. Or I respond days later and the meaning …. has no meaning. lol
Or I read someone’s comment in response to a comment I made days and days ago and I have no idea what my comment was. I just respond with a ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. It’s not January’s fault that it follows December is it, so I don’t know why so many people hate it?

I like January because of cosy nights in and no more X-Factor!!!!! Oh, and it’s also my birthday month as well, but you’ll need to blame my mother for that because I was actually due in December, but decided to stay a little longer ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. I hate the X Factor, Strictly Come Prancing and Saturday night television in general. Unless it involves The Walking Dead, Homeland, or 24. Oh and Person of Interest…that’s okay.
As for January, it’s lovely – quiet, calm and as you rightly say…a time to get cosy.
And you’re to blame for your January birthday, because you procrastinated too long, instead of getting on with it. I know this, because I also did this and was born dry [that explains a lot], because I couldn’t make up my mind when to arrive!
I’m still trying to get over what you made that poor woman do to that cat, in your horror story…you beast! LOL!
For those of you interested…pop over to Hugh’s site and have a read. I would link to, but I haven’t figured that bit out yet, on the comments and I’m too drunk on dandelion and burdock…hic!

      1. Oh, January also means the return on “Mr Selfridge”. Far better than ‘Downton’ is my opinion (expect for Maggie Smith) but having worked in Selfridges for three years back in the 1980’s maybe that is why I am saying that?

I’ll raise a glass of dandelion and burdock to you when watching it tomorrow evening. My, dandelion and burdock! That takes me back ๐Ÿ™‚

      2. I drink the diet version, because I’m watching my weight…creep up! I used to drink diet coke but that contains aspartame, which actually makes me incredibly poorly.
I don’t watch Mr Selfridge…no zombies in it – are there?
