5 photos – 5 days challenge. Day one.

5 photo challenge banner 4I’ve received an invitation to take part in the 5 photos – 5 days challenge. So, thanks to Colleen at Silver Threading for asking me to participate in this.

Here are the rules:

‘Post a photo each day for five consecutive days, and tell a story about each photo.  The story can be truth or fiction, poetry or prose.  Each day one must also nominate a fellow blogger to participate in the challenge.’

So without further ado, here is my contribution for today.

All this chair needs now is a writer

To fill the pretty notebooks that currently lie empty

The words won’t appear on the faintly, scented pages of their own accord.

But, where is the absent writer?

They miss the sun, the birdsong, the gentle, warm breeze.

Not for them the smell of the French lavender

The gentle buzzing of the bees, as they make their way around the sheltered garden

The swifts screaming overhead. The swallows chirping, as they make a low dive, to feast on minute insects.

The air is like an insect minestrone soup

All swarming and flying around.

As they’re gobbled up, new ones emerge, to take their place.

The writer won’t get to see the puffs of white clouds, as they form pictures in the aquamarine blue sky, above them

That cup of Earl Grey tea with its sweet bergamot scent, is growing cooler by the minute.

Come quickly!

Away from your computer and internet

Why do you need those, on a day such as today?

On a day such as this

Full of new life and fresh hope

All you need is a pen and your books

To write and draw in.

Record your thoughts and feelings

To recall and relive

When this outside room is covered by a blanket of snow

Battered by the freezing rains and wind

Covered with a layer of smooth ice.

When these birds above

Will swarm in a minestrone soup

Far, far from here.

Grab your moment

Thanks to Colleen for thinking of me.

I would like to ask Runaway Nuns and Leprechauns to have a go at this challenge.

Good luck and I look forward to checking out their posts.

Now, all I have to do is to remember to do another 4 of these.

Thanks for dropping by here.

  1. What a dreamy photo and lovely poem. All too true and yesterday in the beautiful sunshine I took out my notebook and pen and wrote bathed in the warmth of the sunlight, surrounded by roses, clematis and birds darting to the bird feeder. Pure bliss and a good writing hour.
