5 photos – 5 day challenge: nature’s cathedral.

photo challenge new 1Day 5 of this challenge.

I got here… finally!

Just to recap… it’s a big thanks to Colleen at Silver Threading for nominating me to take part in this fun challenge. Click here to visit her brilliant blog.

Nature’s house of worship.

Summer walks beneath the trees with c

Beneath a canopy of leaves

I seek

and find my gods and goddesses.

I come to worship in nature’s cathedral.

The ancient, and twisted tree trunks rise to the heavens

and give support to a roof of leaves.

A dazzle of colour and light.

As the sun catches the edges of the leaves

they become like stained glass windows.

The birds above

are the angelic choir.

The soft, grassy carpet beneath me

is ancient and blessed.

Truly holy ground.

Many have walked this way before me and will continue to do so:

when I no longer walk the Earth.

In the pews, either side of me

wildflowers quietly worship

I  whisper my secrets to the trees

and they  keep them safe.

They in turn, whisper their ancient secrets to me.

I leave nature’s cathedral/ chapel/ synagogue/ mosque

It has no preference

any one of us is welcome here.

My final nomination goes to a lovely family who live in South Africa. Many of you will know Boeta and his mum and dad. https://ourrumblingocean.wordpress.com/

Here are the rules:

‘Post a photo each day for five consecutive days, and tell a story about each photo.  The story can be truth or fiction, poetry or prose.  Each day one must also nominate a fellow blogger to participate in the challenge.’

I hope Boeta and his family can do this challenge and I look forward to seeing their posts.

Many thanks for dropping by and reading.

Until the next time.

Dorne x

  1. Thank you very much Annika. I’m behind with indulging myself on other’s blogs. But, I’m getting there and will be catching up with you and your posts very soon. Loved the ones I have seen so far. The one about your grandad and his fishing chums was just brilliant. x
