Art.y farty Saturday: writing inspiration.

Blog imageAs well as writing tosh on here, I occasionally  try to paint as well. Today, is one of those days and this is a current work in progress. This is acrylic on canvas and it’s some way off being completed. I’m not painting it from a photo, or drawing and can’t you tell. It’s my idea of a bluebell wood.

The trick with painting,  is to not overdo it…much the same as with our writing – yes? Know when to stop; less is more and all that. I confess I do overwork my pictures quite a lot of the time. That’s a sign of being an amateur, I guess!

I find that if I take a break from writing and direct my creativity [ if that’s what you could call this?] into something else, my writing is all the better for it. Now, you have great hopes for some amazing posts on here, don’t you? Oh dear! As my  two-year old grandson likes to say.

Joking apart – we need to read and do other things to stretch our writing skills and fuel our imaginations. Otherwise we become stale. How can we possibly expect to write new and interesting stuff if we do the same old stuff. So, that’s where I’m going wrong!

Well, it seems to be working for me – I was inspired to share this with you. Sorry about that! And a novel that has been a work in progress for quite a while now, has had a bit added to it…ooh! EXCITING!

And now I have some more inspiration lined up, to get my creative juices flowing…

blog ironingOh, oh!  Another of my darling grandson’s current phrases.

This might not be quite as inspiring. And yes, I will be putting on some music and having a sing-song whilst I iron; as my trusty greyhound has disclosed to you.

How about you?

  • How are you spending your Saturday?
  • How do you get inspiration?

Thanks for taking the time to stop by here and enjoy the rest of your Saturday.

Until the next arty farty time.

Red sky at night…shepherd’s or sailor’s delight?

Taken with Nokia Glam MeThere’s a fabulous sky tonight over our village in North Yorkshire. This is taken by a lazy photographer…yours truly, from my desk in our shared office.

I rather like the window frame against the sky. I have darkened the frame,  the trees and the farmhouse opposite, to bring out the sky more. The result is more dramatic and truer to the actual image seen, I feel. Sometimes the camera lies and doesn’t portray the image as the eye sees it. This is exactly how I saw this dramatic end, to what had been a rather boring day, [ I hadn’t been lost in my car] until this happened. Wow! Nature does its thing again! Now I feel much happier.

So, are you a shepherd, or a sailor? I hope it brings a smile to your face too.

Have a good night.

Until the next time

Farty-arty Saturday!

Tonight is an arty-farty Saturday night and also a LET’S MAKE MYSELF LOOK AS AWFUL AS POSSIBLE night. I’m doing incredibly well. This is my zombie impression.

To achieve these nightmarish images, I take hideous pictures and then turn them into monstrosities, via some fantastic programs on my laptop. I don’t get covered in acrylic paint, as I do if I attempt to paint. That’s painting with paint on a canvas. Yeah, paint! Glad I’ve made myself clear.

There’s load more rubbish where this came from. I’m expressing myself…it could get messy.[It usually does.]

There will be others waiting to attack you in my gallery. So be warned and don’t go there.

I’ve been thinking some more about my fantasies and I might be ready to disclose a pretty big one, soon. Well, everything is larger than life with me.

No, this one could be a bit risqué and I would need to conjure up incredible self-confidence to attempt it, let alone achieve it.

Also, there is the fact that I change my mind as often as I…breathe. I’m not using any clichés here… to do with my lingerie.

Oh la la…I’ve gone all French.

Je suis une idiot, avec un grand derriere et bouche. Le singe est dans l’arbre.

You’re impressed aren’t you?

What the hell is this all about?

Oh, yeah I remember…my fantasies and farty art.

Yeah! One of these days I’m going to come on here and write something so profound, that you will not be able to believe it. And I won’t be able to believe it neither. But that day, is not today.

No, today it’s the usual nonsensical mush and then I just clear off and leave you wondering what it was all about.

So, true to form, I’m clearing off now.

I will be calling by your blog soon…be warned and feel threatened, and if you haven’t got a blog…why not?

For the time being, have a good night and try not to have nightmares.

Until the next farty arty time.
